The saints of the Holy Land in particular have a special place in the hearts of Christians in all ages, places and churches by virtue of their direct connection to the Salvation Story, in both the Old and New Testaments, especially the saints mentioned in the Gospel. These saints were transferred from the limited scope of the Holy Land to Christianity's vast world expanse and were accorded universal recognition like the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, the Apostles and the Evangelists.
