The purpose of Gender and Communications is to synthesis the research findings into a single, manageable source. Although the text includes hundreds of citations, at least as many were deleted from inclusion. Am attempt was made to include the various findings on each issue, to include at least one or two citations from the major researches, and to suggest the breadth of research in this area. At the same time, manageability of the text, considerations such as length of the book, and concern about the teaching value of the text suggested some restraint.
