Guiding Young Children is designed for use by college students who are learning to communicate with and interact with young children in infant and child care centers, nursery schools, preprimary groups, or at home. Using a developmental approach, Guiding Young Children is designed to be a suitable textbook for classroom use in any of the departments of community colleges or universities that offer courses in child care or in early childhood education. The emphasis is on the process of guiding and teaching young children the interactional communication opportunities of caregivers, teachers, parents and children themselves to develop the human potential of children.
