This fifth volume of our series Readings in Moral Theology deals with commentaries on official Catholic social teaching. The Purpose and format of this series is to gather together significant studies on a particular aspect of moral theology. To insure an in-depth and scholarly presentation the topic must be suitably limited. This volume is concerned with the area Christian social ethics, but such a topic area is much too broad. Official Catholic social teaching is the focus of the present volume. This collection presupposes a general knowledge of these documents and attempts to offer significant commentaries to analyze and criticize this important body of social teaching.
