This volume of our series Readings in Moral Theology is concerned with the relationship between the magisterium and morality. The very usage the magisterium has implications that are subject to discussion as several essays make clear especially those of Congar Nevertheless, we have retained the usage in our title because it is a standard usage and because it states clearly the problem that the various readings address.
