A twelfth century German mystic and philosopher, Hildegard is being rediscovered as a musical composer, and a prophet of the environment movement. In her visions she saw God in all living things. She saw that human beings can only find inner peace if they recognise their spiritual unity with animal and plants. Her insights into the human psyche seem astonishingly modern.
