History of Salvation: Introducing the Old Testament
The revival of biblical studies is one of the most marked features of Christianity today; but there is still a serious gap between the writings of the scholars and the communication of their findings at a popular level. Fortunately it is now more generally realized that, as far as the Bible is concerned, the majority of Christians are only on the beginning of the road to understanding. And with this realization has come a great demand for more knowledge on the Bible, its contents, its message, its meaning, its relevance. The Bible is not as difficult a book as it is sometimes made out to be; it is not a book merely for highbrows, eccentrics and mystics, but it can be a bewildering one, and competent guidance through its pages is necessary for most of us.
