How Firm A Foundation: Leaders of the Liturgical Movement
Thus did one bishop send a blessing to Chicago in 1940 as the first Liturgical Week in North America began. Those Weeks were one more manifestation of what had begun in Europe with the turn of the century: all the meetings, publications, organizations, classes, studies, and arguments that has o do with allowing the liturgy to nourish the Christian community. What came to birth in 1963 with Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy to be heard. All of them are yet our companions in the work. We may today have our own agenda, but what next steps can be taken without knowing these men and women who were the liturgical movement? Let this book of their lives tell us something of the delight, the hard work and the hard knocks too that built this movement. That movement is now placed in our hands.
