The series of consultations is intended to achieve popular consensus on pressing communication (mass media, telecommunications and information technology) issues in the spirit of participatory democracy. Various sectors or 'stakeholders' consumer groups, peasants, labor, academe, women, youth, business, among others are asked to present their views and recommendations in the development of a communication policy framework. Here, individual and sectoral interests can hopefully be reconciled with the demands of society and the common good.
