Prayer in the New Testament: With Answers from the New Testament to today's Questions
This is a book which Professor Cullmann, now in his nineties, has long been wanting to write; its profundity and scholarship show that he has not lost any of the qualities which made his always been more than just a biblical specialist in his desire to relate his findings to the experience of being a Christian today, and this book he goes even further in that direction than before. So the first part examines difficulties in praying and objections to prayer today. Then, in the second part, which forms the bulk of the book, there are discussions of the passage about prayer in the Synoptic Gospels and especially the Lord's Prayer; the writings of Paul; the Gospel of John and especially the Ferewell Discourses; and the rest of the New Testament, with a focus on Acts, I Peter, James, Hebrews and Revelation.
