In and Out of Work: A Pastoral Perspective
Any individual is caught up in and has to try to make sense of the pressures and changes in society mediated through his or her experience of work or the lack of it. This book aims to provide a resource for those engaged in different kinds of pastoral ministry in relation to the questions posed to and by people in work or unemployed. Included in this must be an appreciation of the macro-scale of economic structures as well as the micro-realities of human relationships. For the Christian this has also to be seen in the light of the Gospel and its perception of work and the life and mission of the Church. In pastoral relationships, however, the aim must be to encourage and support individuals of communities, as far as possible, to take responsibility and to make decisions for themselves.
