Picturing God
There can be no doubt that today, more than ever before, the major questions in religious (and often also in secular) discussion is 'What do we mean by God?' Those who affirm God and those who deny him must always ask exactly how they are modelling God. Certainly much is said or implied that makes the word 'God' entirely unacceptable and Dr. Pittenger explores some of the reasons for his. However if we cannot do with much that is found in the hitherto common portrayal of God neither can believers do without that which or him who is supremely worship, utterly dependable and unsurpassable by anything not himself or itself the one who will not let us go.
