By no stretch of the imagination could the relationship between philosophy and the Christian faith be described as an ideal marriage. It is neither ideal, nor, strictly speaking, a marriage. There are many Christians who regard an interest in philosophy as a dubious and dangerous flirtation. And perhaps the majority of professional philosophers today have serious doubts as to the intellectual respectability of courting religious belief.
