Philosophy and Christian Belief
William Charlton is a lecturer in the Philosophy Department of the University of Liverpool. His fresh treatment of this classic theme is the more valuable for his background in Anglo-Saxon philosophy: his approach to questions such as the existence of God, revelation, redemption and life after death derives from a familiar philosophical tradition. In recent years much theological debate has been couched in terms and language which make it difficult for many people to follow. William Charlton succeeds in showing that the central, that philosophical discussion is still an appropriate mode in which to consider them, and that, considered in this way, they can still be better understood by readers without any specialist theological training.
