Jesus Risen: The Resurrection What Actually Happened and What Does it Mean?

The pronouncements of the Bishop of Durham and others have recently indicated a gulf between the thinking of scholars and the ordinary Christian on these important question. Jesus Risen reflect on three settings in which Christians have understood and interpreted Jesus's resurrection: the scholarly setting of the classroom or library, the context of suffering, and the setting of worship. It examines the Father of the Church, Thomas Aquinas, and a number of twentieth-century writers who have written on the resurrection, including Barth, Bultmann, Moltmann, Rahner, and Kung and draws out the implications for Christian belief.
