John: The Gospel of Belief (An Analytic Study of the Text)
Most Christians would wholeheartedly agree with that. Yet now is the twentieth century reader of the Gospel of John to bridge the gap of nearly two thousand years between his own time and that of the Evangelist? He speaks an entirely different language. He probably lives in another part of the world, and all shorts of customs have changed. Is there a key for understanding the message of John's Gospel that will overcome these difficulties? Three parts make up this book. First there is a consideration of the structure of the Gospel of John. The second, and by far the longest, section is an exposition of the text of the Gospel, taking up the career of Jesus according to the six periods that seem to be suggested by the Gospel writer. Finally, there is a topical analysis of the Gospel, summarizing its contents under several headings, including authorship vocabulary, signs, symbols and interviews.
