Will democracy survive in the Philippines? This questions provided the impetus for a conference called Critical Decade: Prospects fro Democracy in the Philippines in the 1990s, sponsored by the Philippine Resource Center in Berkeley, California. This event brought together representatives of the Filipino American community, Philippine scholars, members of Philippine solidarity groups and journalists. Their wide range of perspectives, experiences and insights made for lively and stimulating discussions. The Philippine Resource Center is pleased to make these papers and discussions available to a wider audience.
