Let Us Pray to the Lord: A Collection of Prayers from the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Traditions
The liturgies of the various Eastern and Oriental Orthodox churches include many eloquent traditional prayers, centuries old, but fresh in their expression of faith. Most are virtually unknown in the rest of the Christian world, often because they are in unfamiliar and sometimes ancient languages. This collection brings together English versions of some of these prayers for use in denominational or ecumenical services or private devotions. Sharing in prayer, says the editor of this unique collection, is the willingness to share our life with God and with one another for mutual spiritual theological and pastoral uplift. Many Christians have indeed been enriched by an ecumenical encount accompanied by short meditations and musical responses.
