A community expresses itself its memories of the past, its experience of the present, its hopes for the future in and through its celebrations. Hence it is very important to understand these celebrations if we want to understand that community. I have been a student of Hinduism for over forty years. This has been for me both a grace and a challenge. A grace, because the study has been the source of great enrichment, not only in my personal struggle to be an authentic Christian, but also in my theological reflection and liturgical celebration. The study has also been a constant challenge; How do I present the best of Hinduism to my fellow Christians? How do I make them experience the enrichment I myself have experienced? The studies put together in this book were undertaken precisely with the desire to enable Christian to come closer to our Hindu brothers and sisters.
