Man in Revolt: A Christian Anthropology
Brunner holds that, even in the midst of unbelief and sin, man is still responsible precisely because he is still to God as created in His image. As in many of his other books, Brunner develops a positive statement of his own position by showing how it is opposed to naturalism and idealism. This method reflects his conviction that all attempts to philosophize apart from revelation are bound to ignore or distort the fundamental situation of human life, a situation of responsibility and guilt which cannot even be grasped, let alone remedied, merely by thinking. His central thesis in MAN IN REVOLT is that man is both responsible and determined by God.
