If one has to write a book on the history of the Philippine communication sector, no doubt the decade of the 80 s will stand out as the most lively era. The articles included in this book chronicle the development environmental in the 80 s. Those written prior to the historic EDSA Revolution in 1986 reflect the mood of the times restraint and brinkmanship and a sense of urgency as they advocated for political, economic and social reforms. The post EDSA articles exude optimism while enjoying greater democratic space. They also document current efforts to build a new, more socially responsive communication order through advocacy by people organizations or through legislation and executive action.
