Montesquieu and Rousseau: Forerunners of Sociology
There are few fields of study which do not owe Emile Durkheim a debt either of scholarship or of inspiration. His lectures and many disciples at the University of Bordeaux and the Sorbonne spread Durkheim's influence beyond his native France to all of Europe and America. His many famous book's include The Rules of Sociological Method, Suicide, Socialism and Saint-Simon, and The Elementary Forms of Religious Experience.
