Communication Roles of the Roman Catholic Church in the February 1986 Philippine Revolution
Communication has always been recognized as a potent force to effect societal change. In the Philippines, the Roman Catholic Church played communication roles in helping achieve a change in leadership of the society. However, it is not empirically known what specific communication roles the Church had played. This monograph is a modest attempt of the authors in articulating the possible communication roles that the Church may play when there is crisis in society. It presents the perceptions of the Church representatives and the ordinary people on communication roles of the Church in the peaceful February 1986 Philippine Revolution. It is hoped that through this monograph the reader will understand and gain some insights on the changing roles of the Church as it affects its own development. Moreover, it is envisioned that the results would serve as springboard for other social, political and communication research on the role of the Church as well as other religious and non-religious institutions in communication and development.
