All the essays collected in this book are the results of the Multicultural Education Workshop held in 2003 at the University of Indonesia. Initiated by the Jurnal Anthropologi Indonesia, this workshop intended to throw light upon the multicultural aspects in education. Witnessing the dynamics of a country composed of societies with a wide range of cultural diversities, those who keep a close eye on Indonesia's social-cultural issues grasp the importance of the role played by education. Therefore, discussions about how the curriculum should be constructed, implemented and evaluated in order to be relevant to Indonesia's multicultural society are always of great value.
