Social Problems: What Can We Do?
Social Problems-What Can We Do? Was born out of an earlier Lumko book called Amos Programmes for Small Christian Communities, written by Bishop Oswald Hirmer, Bishop of Umtata. The original book has been completely rewritten and the drawings updated. Eight themes from the original book have been retained, given they are as relevant today as they were when they were written and five new themes have been introduced. Three new sections have been added. The first is a brief look at the prophet Amos, who he was and the context that drove him to be an agent for social change. The second is an outline showing how one can write and evaluate their own programme. The third is an overview of Catholic Social Teaching sometimes referred to as 'our best kept secret'.
