The bible is not one book, but many books. They were written by a great number of authors over a time-span of a thousand years and more from about 1000 B.C. to 100 A.D. All these books, in varying measure, are uniquely concerned with the communing of God and man, most of it through the medium of a single people-the Hebrews.
