This book is one of a series, the purpose of which is to provide a simple course in philosophy capable general reader. Cosmology has always been recognised as the least developed, and hence as the most unsatisfactory, part of philosophy. The reason for this lies partly in the intrinsic difficulty of its subject-matter, but chiefly in the historical ancient of its long association, during its formative period with greek scientific thought.
