Nuclear Catholics & Other Essays
During his long career as professor of philosophy in both England and Canada, J.M. Cameron has become known to readers of the New York Review of Books and Commonweal as a man whose erudition and keen intelligence are matched by his uncommon good sense. This anthology represents some of Cameron's best writing over more than twenty years. Cameron tries to bring the whole Catholic moral and political tradition to bear on a variety of political and social issues. For examples, in examining the contemporary Catholic debate on the morality of the possession and use of nuclear weapons, Cameron argues that a popular view advocated by William Buckley and the National Review and by conservative Catholics in general is false to the Catholic tradition.
