Prayer
These few sentences give the essence of this little book. It is not surprising that it is widely used by Indian Christians, who find in it the treasures of their own Indian spiritual heritage, combined with profound and satisfying Christian teaching. The author, a Frenchman by birth and a priest of the Benedictine Order, completely identified himself with the people of India. He Lived as one of their own holy men in a hermitage at Gyansu in the Himalayas, near the source of the Ganges, and had taken the Indian name of Abhishiktananda, meaning ' Bliss of the Anointed One', by which he was always known. He died at Indore in 1973.
