Introduction to Catechetics will seem to some a remarkably unambitious contribution. However, more advanced works are already on the market, and there does seem to be value in an introduction which is really such and not a summary for initiates. The words of a sage come to mind: ' The tree which needs two arms to span its girth sprang from the tiniest shoots. The tower yonder, nine stories high, rose from a little mound of earth.
