This book originated from public discussions held between a moral theologian and a psychiatrist at the University of Munich. The practical problems encountered by the moral theologian and the insight gained by the psychoanalyst into the dynamics of personality have been brought together in a dialogue centred on the healing and the salvation of man. Both the authors are conscious of heir very great responsibilities, and they have posed urgent and intensely relevant questions about the best ways of helping the development of mature personal conscience.
