The following pages will hardly appeal to one who claims the title of protestant, meaning by that term the reduction of theological truth to the standard of his personal judgment. Such a one will be little affected by any proof that the Catholicity of S. Clement of Rome and Leo XIII, are identical. He will condemn them equally, and perhaps with the more intensity and assurance, because a system he has prejudged as corrupt, is also shown to be primitive.
