In the present Symposium, The Malabar Church, we have taken account of these various fields of Father Placid's interest and specialization: historical, juridical, liturgical and pastoral. In his dislike for all outward show and ceremony and in his love to remain unknown in the shadow of others, Father placid would fain slip by any celebration of his seventieth birth anniversary and the fiftieth year of religious profession in the Carmelite Congregation.
