Isaias: Man of Ideas
It would be very convenient if, in order to arrive at an estimate of the Prophet's career, we could simply take his book chapter by chapter until a farewell message were arrived at in the concluding verses. But to such a measured process Isaias refuses, unfortunately, to yield. Commentators and historians have, for the most part, chosen to look at the Prophecy of Isaias from the various angles into which Juda's political situation happens to have forced the author at different times; thus we have in the standard textbooks such divisions as 'Isaias and the Assyrian Problem,' Isaias and the Egyptian Problem,' 'The Home Policy of Isaias' and so on
