Old Testament Survey: The Message, From, and Background of the Old Testament
Understanding the Old Testament as the indispensable foundation on which the New Testament is built, the authors all professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary examine comprehensively the nature and contents of the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament. They combine critical concern for the historical and cultural setting of the writings and their literary and linguistic character with an evangelical interpretation of the Old Testament author's purpose and meaning for both their original audience and the modern Christian. Reflecting the evangelical character of this survey the introductory chapters considers the nature of the Old Testament as Scripture examining in particular the various types and means of revelation and the process by which the Old Testament text was formed and transmitted.
