This a book for those-which means most of us-who are only reluctantly introduced to biblical scholarship but who are fascinated by plain speaking on matters we known from personal conviction to be important. Each of us knows very well how hopeless it is to expect to become 'an expert on the Bible', even while we acknowledge with equal vigour that we cannot call ourselves Christians unless we know 'about' the Bible.
