The present book treats of the Word of God in its historical formation and in its life in the Church. It treats, then, of the speech which God necessarily employs in his dialogue with mankind. Though an analysis of the functions of language, of the psychology of literary inspiration, of the social context of all speech, of the nature, the translation, and the reception of the completed work, Father Alonso Schokel develops a theory of bliblical inspiration which is integral and organic because it is faithful both to the divine and the human aspect of God's word.
