The original articles were revised, and in the attempt to do some justice to those on whose wisdom i had drawn, a brief bibliography was added to each chapter. It is obvious that I have drawn heavily on the work of my teachers and masters. Often enough it is impossible to attribute to each one that part of the work which he originally researched and it has gone into the next unacknowledged because it is already part of the "firmament" of Old Testament study.
