Newman on Tradition
No theologian of the nineteenth century has had a greater influence on the Church of today than Cardinal Newman, and no aspect of Newman’s teaching has been proved more enlightening to contemporary theology than his notion of tradition. Notwith-standing this continuing rekvance of his teaching, notwithstanding the unceasing proliferation of books and articles on Newman, notwithstanding the centrality of the question of tradition in Newman’s writings, there has been no adequate treatment of it until the appearance of the present book.
