I Want to See God (Vol.I): A Practical Synthesis of Carmelite Spirituality
A clear indication that despite many dark signs of the times, the Holy spirit still 'broods over then world, and with, ah, bright wings,' is the growing interest among people everywhere in contemplative prayer. i want to See God is an outgrowth of this palpable spiritual movement, for it was inspired by a group of laymen in search of a more profound interior life. The retreats and conferences given in response to their request emerged in a two volume work having an organic unity through the masterpiece on which it is based, the Interior Castle of St. Teresa. Volume one of this analysis and synthesis, I Want to See God, deals principally with the first three mansions in the 'Castle'. Volume Two, now in process of translation, with the Mansions four to seven. Along with his penetrating commentary on Teresian spirituality is Father Marie-Eugene's complementary use of the writing of St. John of the Cross. The sublime synthesis of the teachings of these two great doctors of Carmel he frequently and charmingly brings to brilliant fusion in the simplicity of the 'little way' of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.
