Oxford Bible Atlas

The Second Edition, like the First, makes full use of the latest and quite remarkable, advances in archaeology. Most of the twenty six full color maps have been revised, particularly the map of Palestine's archaeological sites, which has been re drawn on a larger scale, and the two plans of Jerusalem, in Old Testament times and in New Testament times. Herbert G. May revised his extensive Introduction, including the two chronological tables which help put the period in perspective and Robert W. Hamilton's authoritative article on Archaeology and the Bible was also updated. Special attention has been paid to the photographs which appear throughout. These now include recent photographs taken in the Holy Land and show, among other subjects, the participation of student volunteers in an archaeological dig. A Gazetteer an index to every name in the maps, with valuable notes on the Biblical, historical and archaeological data again completes the volume.
