The author, one of the leading evangelical ethicists, describes and evaluates the three systems that are live options for absolutism, and graded absolutism. My own hope he concludes, is that increasingly evangelicals will see the value of graded absolutism as not only consistent with biblical Christianity but as the only viable answer to many problems in both Scripture and society.
