Oracles of God: Perceptions of Ancient Prophecy in Israel After the Exile
Oracles of God is a study of ideas about ancient prophecy current in Judaism and Christianity from the Exile to the end of the New Testament period. During that time the classical prophets were read and understood very differently from the way in which they have been since the rise of modern critical study of the Bible. People's perceptions of them affected their assessment of contemporary 'prophetic' figures and their expectations about prophets who might arise in the future.
