This book is the eighth annual volume of organizational communication abstracts, and we pleased to report further progress as a result of a constant effort to improve the utility of the publications. The objectives of this volume are several; (1) to provide a general reference for students, scholars and practitioners that will furnish comprehensive information on recently published and unpublished literature in and related to the field of organizational communication; (2) to provide abstracts of the literature for the year 1981 in the form of a classified and annotated bibliography; (3) to provide an overview of the literature that serves to lessen the problem of reader comprehension of recent writing; and (4) to continue to develop classification systems for literature of interest to the field of organizational communication.
