The Sociology of the Resurrection
There is little in recent books on the resurrection of Christ, William Lunny argues, that is help to the ordinary pastor. Their technicalities obscure the central element to the Christian faith. However, the evidence has to be examined and evaluated. The most successful way to do this, William Lunny has found, is to see the resurrection of Jesus in terms of the re-formation of a small group. During his ministry Jesus grouped disciples around him and trained them for their role in his mission; here the meals they shared were very special. That life together was shattered by the crucifixion, but the group again found Jesus with them in the 'breaking of bread'.
