Partnership Women and Men in Ministry
Here is a vision of mutuality in ministry men and women working together in mature and responsible partnership. The authors develop a cogent rationale from scripture, theology and the social sciences for changing the dominant male-female stereotypes in order to construct a viable structure for collaboration in ministry. They firmly root their vision in the Hebrews scriptures, in the freshness and vitality of the creation stories of Genesis and the restored mutuality of the Song of Songs. Their well-developed approach shows that Jesus proclaimed a return to this original vision and that the early church responded with enthusiasm and determination. From earliest Christian times however cultural tendencies toward patriarchy stifled the spirit of partnership. Calling on the church to reclaim this vision they argue that the essence of partnership is found in the very image of God.
