The Psychology of Learning
Following an introductory chapter which sets the psychology of learning into a proper historical and theoretical context, the initial chapters of the book stress the basic processes of conditioning and learning. Chapter 2 begins a discussions Plavovian and instrumental conditioning. This theme carries through chapters on reinforcement, extinction and patterns of reinforcement, and avoidance learning and punishment. Chapter 7 and 8 provide a bridge between fundamental processes, developed mostly in the animal literature, and processes associated most closely with human learning and performance. This theme is carried out of through chapters on concept learning and verbal learning, and by our treatment of forgetting and memory. Chapter 10 compares animals and human on some important dimensions of thinking and cognition.
