The Interpretation of the Fourth Gospel
This book is a close of the basic elements in the thought and structure of the Fourth Gospel. It is the work of a scholar who spares no labour that will bring and his reader near to the pith and conviction of the Evangelist himself. The plan of Dr. Dodd's work is this: first by research to the reconstruct the background and stir of thought out of which the Fourth Gospel must have taken form; secondly to define as precisely as possible the leading concepts which may be said to have determined the structure and arrangement of this book as we have it. The reader is asked to work very hard; the reward will be commensurate. Here the Fourth Gospel, most significant and most original of books, is examined by a living scholar second to none.
