Modern exegesis has revealed that the gospels are richer and deeper, and less straightforward, than previous generations has supposed. The contemporary preacher or teacher must either make the very considerable effort to convey this real depth and complexity to his congregation or class, or he must compromise with what he knows to be truth. How can he meet this challenge, bridge this gap between the gospel truth that exegesis reveals and the truth to be preached or taught to his non-academic hearers? Franz Kamphaus has provided a detailed 'how to' and 'how not to' answer this problem.
