This volume is the first in a completely new translation into modern English of Calvin's commentaries on the New Testament. Those familiar with the previous translations have frequently discovered that they failed to reveal the close coherence of Calvin's ideas, missed many of his characteristic images, and often translated whole passages poorly or omitted them altogether.
